Adopt an Unreached People Group Print E-mail

As a base we adopt unreached people groups and we need your assistance to reach them!

What is an unreached people group?

A people group is an ethnic group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelise their own people without outside assistance. You can assist us to reach out to them by praying, giving or going.

Across the world, as mission agencies try to reach the unreached, they are teaming up with churches in new ways. "We tap into an enormous reservoir of energy and solid working relationships when we partner with churches," said YWAM President, Jim Stier.

An example: In Australia, "Break the Night" is a partnership that has borne tremendous fruit.

The goal has been to link Australian churches with unreached peoples through the Adopt-A-People program. Adopt A People involves churches committing themselves long-term to supporting efforts to plant indigenous churches among that people group.

In the Fassifern Valley, rural Queensland, Break the Night has seen particularly encouraging results. Significantly, before Break the Night came on the scene, these churches had been gathering together to pray for unity and to reconcile differences.

Local pastor, Matthew Bolte, said that although the unity was very encouraging, the churches were still very much focused on the valley. "We wanted our congregations to see that there is a whole world out there. Break the Night was the right program for the right people at the right time." A total of 20 congregations in this small community (population 7,000) have now officially adopted 21 people groups.

"There are many wonderful stories of YWAM serving and working together with local churches, but there is still room for many more."

You or your church could consider to  adopt One!
